Mentoring Program
In the past, the chapter has paired up new, less experienced
members with some of the veteran members that have had more training exposure.
In doing so, understand that you shouldn't look upon this program as having
somebody else train your dog for you. The philosophy is more along the lines
of helping to train the trainer train their dog.
If you have interest in receiving experienced help in your
developing your training techniques, or in providing it, please contact
contact Kurt Bard at 231.267.9376.
2002 Testing
Similar to past years, our
tests have garnered significant interest. Currently, both tests are
filled to capacity. However, if you would like to be placed on a waiting
list in the event that an opening should become available, please contact
Judy Balog, test secretary
for both tests, at 231.938.4426.
Once you have been notified that you will be participating,
only then you will need to complete a testing
application and return as it indicates.

Chapter Board Meetings
We would encourage anybody who is interested in attending
the chapter's board meetings to please do so. Meetings are kept fairly informal
and infrequent. Rarely will there be more than four in an entire year. Our
next board meeting will probably be sometime in May. An announcement will
be circulated once it has been set. Alternatively, please feel free to e-mail
your comments to any of the board numbers at their addresses listed within
this newsletter and it will be presented during the meeting for discussion.
NAVHDA International On-line Store
Just in time for the training season, NAVHDA International
has introduced an on-line store on their web site. A person can purchase
educational books and videos, obtain and renewal their international membership,
and get breed and parental testing reports, and find numerous other NAVHDA
logo items such as decals, pins, stickers, etc. at the gift shop. Lastly,
after just having laid another another tax season to rest for a year, I
would like to point out that tax deductible donations can be made at this
area of their web site as well. |
2002 Test Volunteers and Chapter Governance
As always seems to be the case, we are in need of a few
volunteers for this coming Spring and Fall Test. While Kurt Bard and Tony
Griffore have volunteered for Spring and Fall text chair positions and Judy
Balog will step up again and be test secretary for both tests, we need others
to help out where they can. If you are interested in doing so, please contact
Kurt Bard at 231.267.9376 or Tony Griffore at 231.922.9230.
If in the past you have enjoyed participating in chapter
activities but have yet to assume some of the event responsibilities, this
is an excellent opportunity to begin paying a little back to the club. These
are not difficult roles and there are others who will help guide volunteers
in performing these responsibilities.

German Wirehair Pointer Pups - Steve Kane (Mid Ohio chapter)
I am forwarding this email to some NAVHDA friends in hopes
to find good hunting homes. This litter is out of Bea my black & white
GWP NA 102, out of VC Kaiser der Jadg and the sire is Drako "Coe"
a Prize 1 UT dog out of Sturm-is out of Parker VC Kettle Creek Moe. Bea's
first litter pups out of Sturm had 2 Prize I NA scores and four more pups
will run this year. Bea is a personal gun dog, which I have hunted in Iowa,
South Dakota, and Kansas and lots of fields in Ohio. Bea littermate I ran
last weekend and got a Prize II 191 UT score and her older full brother
is Bruiser a Prize I,
201 UT. I really think this was a great breeding, Doug Gardner in Alabama
owns Coe the sire of this litter, and this dog's temperament and willingness
to please is excellent and it was a thrill to watch in his UT test. If you
know anyone that might be interested, let me know, my brother Bill in Tenn.
has raised this litter.
