Northern Michigan NAVHDA Chapter Testing

August 8th is for NA Only. August 9th, and 10th, will include NA, UPT, and UT.

If you are interested in testing with us, please contact Test Secretary, Lance Vernam at vernams@charter.net or 231.938.1324.

As always, we will order extra birds for each day of testing. Any leftover birds will be sold at the end of our testing on Sunday afternoon , at our chapter's cost.

2008 Training schedule and Field Rules

Norm Licht is again graciously allowing our chapter members to train their dogs on his property located on Cedar Run Road. This property is open for dog training on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting on April 26th and ending on August 29, 2008.

Turkey hunting is not allowed and do not pick any mushrooms, as those are Norm’s. Please respect his property by picking up your spent hulls and any other trash that you created.

A sign-up board is located on our equipment trailer door. Everyone is requested to sign up on the board before using the fields. If you have more than one dog to train then, you will need to sign up more than once to allow other members to use this property. Please do not sign up twice in a row, allow a couple of our other members a chance before you sign up the second time.

Also, we have a bicycle flag. The person that is going out in the field to train will set it up as a signal that another person is still in the field training. The hills on Norm’s property cause a short distance of sight. Therefore, you cannot always see if someone is all ready in the south field training. The flag should help to eliminate that unsafe situation. If the flag is up, do not go out in the field.

New rules Apply

The pond is off limits to everyone during Michigan’s "quite time of the year" (April 15 to and including July 15). Therefore, please, stay away from the pond during these dates!

A no-gunfire (of any kind), "Quite Zone", has been established on the northern end of the property. This includes the pond and north field! Live rounds and blanks are allowed in the south (back) field only.

Please also note that Dan Hall has disced the field next to the woods on the east side. Stay out of his newly planted area and stay on his existing two tracks that he drives.
