2001 Fall Test Results
Congratulations to all those who participated in the chapter's
fall test. Test scores can be viewed by clicking here.
Also, we would like to thank all the volunteers who were able to help make
this test the success that it was.
Training Grounds Closed
As of 1 Sept, Norm's property has been closed for training.
We wish everybody the best of luck on this year's hunting season!
Be Careful During the Woodcock Opener
As some of you may recall, the State of Michigan initiated
a special two day youth firearm deer season last year for late September.
This hunt was originally limited to private lands only.
This year however, this hunt has been expanded to include
public lands as is scheduled to coincide with the opening weekend of woodcock
season -- 22 & 23 September.
Please be aware if you are hunting this weekend that you
will be sharing the woods with firearm deer hunters so as to avoid an unfortunate
accident. I would strongly suggest that if you are out in the woods, that
you dress yourself and your dog(s) accordingly.
Membership
As is often repeated, membership in the Northern Michigan
Chapter of NAVHDA also requires membership in the NAVHDA international.
This is one of the organization's by-laws.
Given that chapter membership is kept on a calendar basis
while international membership is kept on an anniversary basis, it is easy
to let international membership lapse. We would greatly appreciate it if
everybody would take steps to ensure their International memberships remain
current. Membership expiration can be verified by contacting:
Roberta "Bobby"
Applegate
PO Box 520
Arlington Hts., IL 60006

If International membership is not kept up-to-date we will
have no choice but to drop an individual from the chapter rolls. Thank you
in advance for your timely assistance in preventing this from becoming an
issue. |
2002 Test Volunteers and Chapter Governance
As always seems to be the case, we are in need of a couple
of volunteers for next year's Spring and Fall Test. While Judy Balog has
graciously volunteered to again be test secretary for both tests, we need
somebody to function as test chairperson. If you are interested in doing
so, please contact Kurt Bard at 231.267.9376
If in the past you have enjoyed participating in chapter
activities but have yet to assume some of the planning responsibilities,
this is an excellent opportunity to begin paying a little back to the club.
This isn't a difficult role and there are others who will help guide volunteers
in performing these responsibilities.
Along different lines, the chapter will have a new president
in the 2002 training year. The board wishes to extend a hearty welcome Kurt
Bard who will be assuming the position that will be vacated by Lance Vernam
at the end of this calendar year. On behalf of the chapter, I would like
to sincerely thank Lance for all the time and effort he has put forth on
behalf of the club for the last three or so years as President. While continuing
his membership in the chapter, he has been asked to participate in leadership
responsibilities at the international level.
The Northern Michigan chapter board for 2002 will be:
Also, we would encourage anybody who is interested in attending
the chapter's board meetings to please do so. Meetings are kept fairly informal
and infrequent. Rarely will there be more than four in an entire year. Our
next board meeting will probably be sometime in December. An announcement
will be circulated once it has been set, but do not expect more than a couple
of days notice.
